Best for
Founders, Fund managers, Transaction teams, Fundraising operators

Finta and Papermark solve different primary jobs. Choose Papermark when the central requirement is a specialist virtual data room with granular file and group permissions, NDA gates, Q&A, audit logs, redaction, custom domains, or self-hosting options. Choose Finta when the data room must stay connected to investor relationships, CRM state, meetings, possible introduction paths, documents, fundraising stages, and human-reviewed follow-through.

Some teams may use both. Finta does not replace Papermark's specialist VDR controls, and Papermark is not positioned here as a replacement for Finta's relationship and fundraising workspace.

Finta authored this comparison. It is based on official public product and pricing documentation reviewed September 14, 2026. It does not claim undisclosed hands-on testing. Features, limits, security claims, currencies, billing terms, and prices can change.

Choose Papermark when the room itself is the system

Papermark is the clearer fit when the buyer's checklist starts with specialist virtual data-room administration. Its official data-room and pricing pages document:

  • viewer groups and granular file or folder permissions;
  • NDA acceptance before viewing;
  • dynamic watermarking and screenshot protection;
  • page-by-page and data-room analytics;
  • a Q&A module with permissions;
  • audit logs for viewers;
  • custom branding and custom domains;
  • automatic file indexing and redaction capabilities;
  • API, CLI, and MCP access on listed plans;
  • enterprise and self-hosted options.

Those capabilities matter in transactions where separate viewer populations require different files, formal Q&A, detailed audit evidence, or procurement-specific deployment controls. Confirm the exact plan, implementation, security review, region, retention, and contractual terms with Papermark.

Choose Finta when sharing is one step in a relationship workflow

Finta is designed around the work before and after a room is shared:

  1. Research the investor or organization from supported sources.
  2. Keep contact, company, meeting, inbox, task, and fundraising-stage context together.
  3. Inspect possible relationship pathways without treating them as consent.
  4. Organize approved files in Documents.
  5. Build a Share Page from supported components or prepare custom HTML with Aurora.
  6. Choose public, email-required, or email-verified access.
  7. Review supported identified activity in the relationship record.
  8. Use Aurora to prepare the smallest useful next action.
  9. Have a person approve consequential disclosure and external communication.
  10. Preserve what was prepared, approved, sent, and actually completed.

This is useful when a lean fundraising team does not want engagement analytics detached from the relationship, meeting, request, and pipeline stage that give the activity meaning.

Finta does not maintain a proprietary PitchBook-style investor database. Aurora can research the public web and work with supported connected sources or compatible tools when authorized, but availability depends on permissions, connections, tools, and plan limits.

Access controls are not identical

Both vendors publicly describe controls for sharing sensitive material, but the control surface is not the same.

Papermark's current public documentation is broader for specialist VDR administration. It names file-level and folder-level permissions, viewer groups, NDA gates, Q&A, audit logs, redaction, SSO at higher tiers, and self-hosting.

Finta Share Pages provide public, email-required, and email-verified access. Supported gated pages can use dynamic watermarking and configured download controls. Finta also connects supported identified activity to relationship context.

Do not assume that similar words mean equivalent configuration, enforcement, compliance, evidence, or contractual commitments. Ask each vendor to demonstrate the exact access matrix and event record required for the real deal.

AI and agent claims need a workflow test

Papermark publicly documents AI capabilities for data-room work. Finta's Aurora works across available Finta workspace context and supported tools. The products therefore start from different centers of gravity.

Test both with one representative task:

  • What sources can the system access?
  • Does it cite the file, record, or event behind a recommendation?
  • What happens when a requested document is missing or contradictory?
  • Which actions require confirmation?
  • Can a person correct the result before it changes a record or reaches an external recipient?
  • Where is the prepared work and final outcome recorded?

Neither AI system should be treated as legal approval, document verification, or proof that a room is complete.

Pricing as of September 14, 2026

Papermark's public pricing page displayed Free at €0 per month, Pro at €24 per month, Business at €59 per month, and Data Rooms at €99 per month in the page state reviewed. The page listed three included team members for Business and Data Rooms, with additional-member prices, and showed monthly or annual and USD or EUR controls. Its calculator also displayed billing-term choices, so verify currency, billing cadence, taxes, included usage, add-ons, and contract terms at purchase.

Finta sells Share Pages and Documents as part of its broader relationship workspace rather than as a stand-alone enterprise VDR. Confirm the current workspace price, commitment, trial terms, Aurora-credit allowance, access-control availability, and any negotiated terms on the official Finta pricing page.

Price should follow the operating requirement. A lower published entry price is not a useful comparison if the chosen product lacks the required permissions, relationship workflow, reviewer seats, retention, deployment model, or support.

Worked decision examples

A transaction team with strict VDR requirements

A buyer needs separate viewer groups, file-by-file permissions, NDA acceptance, formal Q&A, redaction, audit logs, and SSO. Papermark is the stronger starting point based on the public capabilities reviewed. The team should validate its security, compliance, deployment, support, and contractual requirements directly.

A founder running relationship-driven fundraising

A founder needs an investor pipeline, meeting and email context, possible warm paths, approved diligence files, a branded Share Page, and a reviewed follow-up after an investor's explicit request. Finta is the stronger starting point because the room remains attached to the fundraising relationship and next action. If the raise later requires specialist VDR controls, the founder can add a specialist system rather than pretending Finta supplies those controls.

Migration and coexistence

Moving from Papermark to Finta

  1. Decide whether Finta will own only the relationship workflow or also the external Share Page.
  2. Export or inventory approved files, folder structure, viewers, links, permissions, and activity allowed by Papermark.
  3. Recreate only the access model Finta actually supports.
  4. Keep Papermark when a required VDR control has no supported Finta equivalent.
  5. Map people and companies into the correct Finta relationship records.
  6. Test visitor access and record the cutover before disabling any old link.

Adding Papermark to a Finta workflow

  1. Keep CRM, relationship ownership, meetings, fundraising stage, tasks, and next actions in Finta.
  2. Define Papermark as the authoritative room for specialist permissions and audit evidence.
  3. Decide which events or links may return to Finta and how they will be verified.
  4. Avoid creating two conflicting sources of truth for access, document version, or investor stage.
  5. Require human review before using data-room activity in external follow-up.

Human review and limitations

  • Finta authored this page and has an interest in the comparison.
  • Public documentation cannot establish every account-level behavior, implementation detail, plan limit, security control, or negotiated term.
  • No undisclosed hands-on test is claimed.
  • Vendor-reported certifications and security statements require buyer diligence and contractual verification.
  • Engagement data is not proof of intent, authority, or commitment.
  • AI output can be incomplete, stale, or wrong.
  • People remain responsible for disclosure, recipient access, legal review, and external communication.
  • Neither product replaces counsel, accountants, auditors, security reviewers, fund administrators, or transaction professionals.

Decide from the real workflow

Choose Papermark when specialist VDR controls are the primary requirement. Choose Finta when the primary requirement is carrying investor relationship context into a reviewed next action. Explore Finta for fundraising data rooms or compare the current details on Papermark's official site.
