The Networks You Already Have: Find the Connections Around You

Explore the networks you already have across email, colleagues, alumni, customers and communities, and find a useful next step.

Different sources of professional relationships flow toward one person.

Your professional network is larger than any one contact list. It includes people in your inbox, former colleagues, customers, alumni communities, event conversations and the people your teammates know.

The opportunity is not to message everyone. It is to notice where you already have useful context and choose a thoughtful next step.

Take a five-source inventory

Source What it may reveal A useful question
Email Previous conversations and follow-through Who have I already discussed this topic with?
LinkedIn Professional connections and career context Which people share a relevant experience or community?
Colleagues Relationships held by teammates Who owns this relationship, and would they like to help?
Alumni and communities Shared experiences and interests Where can I participate before making an ask?
Events and customers Real conversations about current problems What did we discuss, and did I promise a follow-up?

No single source captures every relationship. A connection may be stale, and a shared community does not mean someone has agreed to an introduction.

Turn the inventory into a plan

Pick one goal, such as finding a customer conversation or learning about a fundraising market. Write down five people who might offer perspective. For each, note how you know them, what has changed since your last conversation, and whether a reconnection is more appropriate than an immediate request.

Then take one small action. Share a useful update, ask a genuine question, or follow through on an earlier promise. If you want an introduction, make the target and reason clear and let the connector decide.

Find the source that can answer your question

If you need a reminder of a previous conversation, start with email. If you need a different perspective, ask a colleague or a community member. If you want to reconnect with a former coworker, look at the context you already share. These sources complement one another; none makes a relationship complete on its own.

Bring the context together

Finta Networks can use supported connected email history and explicit relationship-file imports to show available context. LinkedIn connections are imported from an export, not continuously synced. Offline conversations still depend on the context you provide.

Aurora can help you prepare a thoughtful next step from available information. The result is not a complete map of every person you know. It is a clearer place to start.
