Network-led prospecting starts with a target account and asks whether the people around your team can offer a useful path into it. The goal is not to find the shortest line on a chart. It is to understand the account, the relationship and the right next conversation.
Start with the account hypothesis
Write down the problem you think the account may have and who is likely to understand it. Treat this as a hypothesis until someone confirms it. Then identify the people you have already met and the roles you still need to understand.
For a complex sale, an enthusiastic contact may not represent the entire buying team. Finta's B2B relationship-map template helps distinguish champions, evaluators and decision makers.
Look for a possible path
Review relevant customers, colleagues, advisors and former coworkers. A teammate may know someone at the account, or a customer may understand the same problem. Ask the relationship owner about the context before requesting an introduction.
| Account | Relevant person or role | Possible connector | What we know | Next question |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| [Company] | [Role] | [Person, if known] | [Real shared context] | [What needs to be confirmed] |
If there is no credible connector, leave the field blank. A focused direct approach can still be useful.
Bring the team into the account plan
In a weekly review, ask who has actual context on the target, which role the team still needs to understand and what would make a first conversation useful. Assign one owner to the next step. If the path depends on another teammate's relationship, ask that teammate before contacting anyone.

Account hypothesis, relevant roles and verified relationship context: [notes].
Show possible paths, missing information and one next action per role. Do not treat a connection as an introduction.
Prepare the first conversation
Give the connector a concise explanation of why the account is relevant, what you hope to learn and why the recipient might find the conversation useful. Let them decide whether to check interest. Do not ask them to make claims they cannot support.
Once an introduction is made, prepare for a discovery conversation, not a presumed sale. Record what was actually discussed and who owns the next step.
Finta Networks can surface available relationship evidence, and Aurora can help prepare a brief from supported context. The account strategy and relationship decisions remain with your team.
