A LinkedIn connection list can help you remember people you have worked with, learned from or met along the way. Turning that list into a working network means adding context: why you know someone, what you have in common, and whether there is a natural reason to reconnect.
The goal is not to send a message to everyone you have ever connected with. It is to make a few relationships easier to continue.
Start with your own connections
LinkedIn's export instructions explain how to request a copy of your data, including first-degree connections. Some email addresses may be absent because members control whether those addresses can be exported.
Choose a small group connected to a current goal. If you are learning about a new market, that could include former coworkers in the field, customers who understand the problem, and people you met through a relevant community.
Add the context a contact list cannot provide
| Person | How we know each other | Current relevance | Natural next step |
|---|---|---|---|
| [Name] | [Actual shared context] | [Why their perspective matters] | [A genuine question or update] |
Do not infer a close relationship from a connection badge. If you have not spoken in years, start by reconnecting rather than asking for a high-stakes introduction.
Make the first message human
Hi [Name], it's been a while since [real shared context]. I saw you're working on [current, verified topic], and it reminded me of our conversation about [topic]. I'd enjoy hearing what you're learning if you have time for a quick catch-up.
Use your own words. If you do not know the person's current work, ask rather than guessing.
Move from contacts to conversations
Choose ten connections whose work relates to your current goal. Group them into people you know well, people you have not spoken to recently and people you have only met briefly. That simple distinction helps you choose between a direct question, a genuine catch-up and a lighter first conversation.

Help me turn these LinkedIn connections into a thoughtful relationship plan.
My goal: [goal]. Actual shared context and current information: [authorized notes].
Suggest a natural next step for each person, without inventing closeness or sending messages.
Bring the list into your workflow
Finta Networks supports an explicit LinkedIn Connections CSV import. That is separate from connected-email evidence and is not a live synchronization. Review the imported context, choose the people relevant to your goal, and use Aurora to help prepare a next step for review.
Your network becomes useful when the relationship continues, not when the spreadsheet gets bigger.
