Personal Intelligence

Apple and Google Are Making AI Personal. What Does Work Need Next?

Explore Apple and Google personal intelligence announcements, what is confirmed, and why relationship-driven work needs current context and ownership.

Local and connected-cloud context systems meet at a work boundary before forming a reviewed relationship action.

Apple and Google are making personal context a more explicit part of their AI experiences. The important idea is that useful assistance should depend not only on general knowledge, but also on the situation of the person asking for help.

For work, that creates an additional question: how does personalized help become dependable coordination across people, decisions, and unfinished responsibilities?

Our view at Finta is that this is where relationship intelligence matters. A personal intelligence hub becomes more useful when it understands not only the user’s information, but also the state of the work involving other people.

This analysis separates dated product announcements from our interpretation of what they could mean for relationship-driven software. Product availability should be checked against the linked official sources.

What Apple has actually described

Apple's June 2024 Apple Intelligence announcement established the combination of model capabilities and personal context as a central idea, with on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute as parts of its approach.

In its June 2026 Apple Intelligence and Siri AI announcement, Apple described a more capable Siri AI with personal-context understanding and actions across applications. These are product and architecture claims from Apple, not an independent assessment of how reliably every feature works. Availability varies by device, language, region, software version, and feature.

The strategic pattern is clear enough to discuss without assuming every promise is fulfilled: the assistant is becoming more connected to the user's actual environment.

What Google has actually described

Google introduced Personal Intelligence in Gemini on January 14, 2026, using selected connected Google apps to make assistance more relevant to the individual.

Google's current eligibility guidance says the feature is being released gradually and requires a personal Google Account, not a work, school, or supervised account. An eligible personal account can connect supported Google Workspace services such as Gmail, Calendar, and Drive. That does not make the feature available to Workspace business, enterprise, or education accounts. Regional and product availability also varies.

The useful observation is not that Apple and Google have identical products. Both are investing in AI that can draw on context beyond the immediate prompt. Their exact interfaces, data access, and capabilities differ.

Work needs more than relevance to one person

An individual might want help locating a reservation or recalling information from a message. A team might need to know who promised a deliverable, whether it was approved, and whether the recipient actually received it.

The second job requires a shared operating record. It also requires attention to permissions: information available to one employee is not automatically appropriate for a colleague or an external partner.

Consider a fictional customer meeting. The account owner has private notes, the implementation team has a current plan, and a customer email changes the requested timing. A useful work system needs to reconcile those sources while keeping their audiences distinct.

More personalized wording is not enough. The next action must be appropriate to the current situation and the person authorized to take it.

Three questions for business software

Can the system tell what changed? A useful assistant should recognize a revised deadline, a completed request, or a new owner instead of relying on an old summary.

Can it distinguish access from authority? Reading a document, using it in internal preparation, and sharing it externally are different operations. The user’s permissions and explicit delegation should govern the difference.

Can it preserve the outcome? A generated answer should not be confused with a completed action. A sent message should not be confused with an accepted proposal. The system needs an honest account of what happened.

These are our evaluation criteria for relationship workflows. They are not an assertion that general-purpose assistants can never support such work, or that a specialist product automatically does it better.

Why the opportunity is also a challenge for Finta

As more assistants connect to personal context, generic summaries and drafting may become less differentiated. That is a strategic inference, not a measured forecast about market share or willingness to pay.

Finta therefore needs to be useful around the relationship itself: the history, current objective, available evidence, and appropriate next step. Finta’s public product connects inbox, calendar, CRM, documents, and network context around relationship-driven work.

The claim to prove is not “we also have personal intelligence.” It is that people can manage meaningful relationships with less repeated explanation and more dependable follow-through.

A practical way to respond

Do not change your entire software stack because a category becomes fashionable. Choose one recurring workflow and test the available tools against it.

Use the same evidence, include an unresolved request and a later correction, and inspect the result. Check permissions and execution as carefully as the quality of the answer. Our buyer checklist provides a structured way to do that.

The larger direction is promising: AI that understands more of the situation can require less setup from the user. The business value still has to be earned at the level of a real relationship and a real responsibility.

Personal intelligence makes assistance more relevant. Relationship intelligence asks whether that assistance helps the right work happen with the right people.
