Spain's investor landscape includes first-round technology funds, therapeutic-science specialists, bank-backed equity teams and multi-stage platforms. The strongest shortlist starts with the company's product, evidence and financing milestone, not a collection of familiar logos.
This guide compares 16 Spanish venture firms and startup investment routes, drawing on established Barcelona and Madrid research and current official sources. It adds a national comparison of specialist mandates, cross-border scope and financing types. Each manager counts once even when it operates several vehicles or offices.
Choose the Spanish investor route that matches the round
- First technology round: compare 4Founders, Encomenda, JME and the early-stage routes below against the product and customer evidence.
- B2B product with a working prototype: Nauta states an operating-product criterion; Kibo's venture route focuses on pre-Series A and Series A.
- Healthcare and therapeutics: Asabys, Ysios and Criteria Bio Ventures have different specialist scopes. Explain the science and development milestone, not merely a health label.
- Commercial expansion: distinguish Axon's direct growth strategy and Bonsai's multi-stage transactions from idea-stage venture capital.
- Alternative platform routes: separate Antai's studio and financing vehicles, BStartup banking and equity, and venture-manager investment from fund-investor subscriptions.
Compare 16 investor routes in Spain
Use provider type, stage and geographic connection together. An office address is not a promise of eligibility. Where the current source does not establish a precise entry stage, the table leaves that question open.
Selected investment managers and startup equity routes relevant to Spain, researched October 29, 2026. Not a performance ranking. On small screens, scroll the table sideways to see every column.

A Spanish office is not the same as a Spain-only mandate
Acurio names offices in Bilbao, Madrid and London while describing Europe as its investment market. Nauta's founder page addresses European B2B software companies and lists Barcelona and London offices. Samaipata is headquartered in Madrid and states a European approach. These are useful cross-border comparisons, not evidence that every European company qualifies.
Keep the company's headquarters, operating team, target customer and expansion plan separate in the round brief. Then ask the relevant investment team how its specific vehicle treats that combination. Use the established Barcelona and Madrid guides below when the local ecosystem or meeting geography matters.
Build a different evidence pack for software and science
For an enterprise-software company, show the operating product, buyer, customer workflow and evidence of adoption. Nauta explicitly distinguishes an operating product from revenue: a pre-revenue company can still have a working product to demonstrate. Kibo's current venture criteria call for a different stage comparison around pre-Series A and Series A.
A therapeutics company should instead separate its scientific result, development stage, next experiment and commercialization assumptions. Ysios's exclusive therapeutic-drug focus is not interchangeable with general health technology, while Asabys describes a broader healthcare and life-sciences proposition. Put the exact technical and customer claim beside its evidence before choosing a fund.
Know whether the transaction finances the company
A primary equity investment, secondary share purchase, venture debt facility and media-for-equity arrangement solve different problems. Bonsai states that it considers primary and secondary transactions. Antai presents several vehicles and a separate company-building proposition. Axon's direct investment strategies differ from its fund-of-funds and consulting businesses.
Start with the job: develop the product, finance a defined growth milestone, provide liquidity to an existing shareholder or obtain a specific operating resource. Confirm the financing structure with the team and qualified advisers before comparing headline amounts. Do not count every strategy, service or sub-fund as another independent investor.
Investor profiles and official routes
These profiles are a research aid, not a performance ranking. Read the current strategy and portfolio before sharing a deck. A public contact route does not establish that a firm has available allocation for your round.
4Founders Capital
Entrepreneur-led venture firm. Barcelona office; internationally ambitious founders. Its current criteria emphasize strong founder ownership, technical scalability and international ambition. Prepare the specific customer problem and the milestone the next round would finance; a large market alone does not show why this team can build the company.
4Founders Capital: official investment information
Antai Ventures
Venture studio and investment platform. Barcelona office; Spanish and international activity. The current platform presents venture building alongside several financing vehicles, including media-for-equity and debt-related structures. Identify the actual equity or studio route before comparing it with a conventional venture fund; media capacity is not the same as unrestricted cash.
Antai Ventures: official investment information
Asabys Partners
Healthcare and life-sciences investment firm. Barcelona-based investment team. A relevant starting point for a scientific or healthcare innovation, not a general consumer-software pitch. Explain what is demonstrated, the next development milestone and the clinical or commercial problem, then confirm which current fund evaluates that work.
Asabys Partners: official investment information · CONTACT
BStartup
Bank-backed startup investment route. Banco Sabadell startup ecosystem in Spain. Separate BStartup's investment activity from its banking services. A startup bank account or participation in an event does not establish that the equity team has reviewed the company; use the investment-specific information to prepare the conversation.
BStartup: official investment information
Criteria Capital Risc
Specialist venture-management platform. CriteriaCaixa venture platform in Spain. The legacy Caixa Capital Risc link now leads to the Criteria Capital Risc platform. Criteria Venture Tech and Criteria Bio Ventures have different technical and scientific jobs. Count the manager once, but identify the appropriate specialist vehicle on the shortlist.
Criteria Capital Risc: official investment information
Encomenda Smart Capital
Early-stage venture firm. Companies arising in Spain with international ambition. Its published approach explicitly connects early company building in Spain with global ambition. Bring the customer insight, technical product and a capital-efficient milestone plan. A later follow-on capability does not change the evidence needed for a first investment.

Nauta Capital
B2B software venture firm. European companies; Barcelona and London offices. Nauta's current founder criteria call for an operating B2B software product, even if pre-revenue. Show what users can already do with the product, who the buyer is and what has been learned; the published pitch page is for founders, not fund subscriptions.
Nauta Capital: official investment information · Official founder pitch page · Additional official strategy or location evidence
Ship2B Ventures
Impact venture investor. Barcelona-based investment platform. Use the current named impact priorities rather than a generic sustainability label. A founder should explain the business outcome and the impact evidence separately, including how the product changes the problem it claims to address.
Ship2B Ventures: official investment information · Get in touch
Ysios Capital
Biotechnology venture firm. Barcelona and San Sebastian offices; global biotech investing. Its current strategy focuses exclusively on innovative therapeutics addressing unmet medical need. General wellness, hospital workflow software and a new drug are different propositions; the company should establish a genuine therapeutic fit before preparing a diligence package.
Ysios Capital: official investment information · Contact us
Acurio Ventures
European venture firm. Offices in Bilbao, Madrid and London; Europe-wide approach. Acurio's current About page describes a European approach and several ways to participate in a round. Explain why the operating team and financing milestone fit its strategy; having a Spanish office does not make the mandate Spain-only.
Acurio Ventures: official investment information · Additional official strategy or location evidence
Axon Partners Group
Multi-strategy investment manager. Spanish investment platform; strategies span Europe and the Americas. Use the direct Growth or ClimateTech strategy when researching company financing. The fund-of-VC-funds business serves fund managers and is not an additional direct startup investor to count. Consulting services are also distinct from investment.
Axon Partners Group: official investment information · Official investment contact
Big Sur Ventures
Early-stage technology venture firm. Madrid office; companies with global ambition. Its current approach separates internet-enabled products from deep technologies such as materials, quantum, photonics and engineering. Explain which technical or market breakthrough the company is pursuing and the first evidence supporting it; use the current .vc website and published pitch route.
Big Sur Ventures: official investment information · Pitch Us
Bonsai Partners
Multi-stage technology investor. Spanish manager domiciled in Madrid; European approach. Distinguish new capital for the company from the purchase of existing shares. Its website presents both primary and secondary opportunities, so the round brief should state what the business needs rather than assume every transaction funds new operations.
Bonsai Partners: official investment information · Additional official strategy or location evidence
JME Ventures
Seed-stage venture investor. Published focus on Spain's startup companies. Its current site identifies seed-stage founders and Spain's company-building opportunity. Explain the product, early demand and use of the next round. Treat its wider investor network as potential support, not a guaranteed syndicate or introduction.
JME Ventures: official investment information · Contact
Kibo Ventures
Venture investment platform; separate PE strategy. European founder and technology mandate. The current venture page is more specific than the group's broad VC-and-PE homepage. Select the venture route for an early technology round and explain the buyer, technical differentiation and expansion case; the separate Kibo Nzyme strategy is not another seed fund.
Kibo Ventures: official investment information
Samaipata
European technology venture firm. Headquartered in Madrid; investing across Europe. Its current investment philosophy emphasizes network effects and European-led companies. Demonstrate the mechanism that makes the product more useful as participation grows. Operational platform support is separate from the investment decision and should not be presented as a promised commercial result.

A worked shortlist for a Barcelona B2B software company
Illustrative exercise, not a funding recommendation. A Barcelona team has a working B2B software product and two design partners. It is pre-revenue and raising a first round to test whether the workflow produces repeatable customer value. It is not developing a therapeutic drug.
Shorten the list by checking the actual job
| Candidate | Initial decision | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Nauta | Research the operating-product B2B route | What user evidence supports the current product and European company fit? |
| Encomenda | Research the pre-seed/seed approach | What founder insight and capital-efficient milestone justify this first round? |
| 4Founders | Research the scalable technology proposition | What makes the product defensible and the team capable of international execution? |
| Ysios | Hold without a therapeutic-drug fit | The example is software, not an innovative therapeutic-drug company. |
| Axon Growth | Hold for a different maturity level | The example has not demonstrated the growth-company operating case. |
The useful output is three evidence-gathering tasks and two explicit holds. A longer directory should improve this decision, not produce a longer indiscriminate email list.

Methodology, research date and local guides
Research checked October 29, 2026 by the Finta Editorial Team with AI-assisted source review. We reconciled provider names from our existing city research and reviewed current official strategy, portfolio, location or founder-contact pages. Firms with multiple offices count once; angel networks count as networks, not one committed pooled fund. We distinguish local presence from investment mandate and company eligibility. We do not infer check sizes, investor returns, lead behavior or open allocation from a portfolio logo.
The national directory combines the established Barcelona and Madrid provider research with current strategy, contact and legal-identity pages. Antai's current investment site replaces the obsolete antai.vc lead; Big Sur's current .vc site replaces an obsolete .com lead. Criteria Capital Risc retains Caixa Capital Risc as a historical alias, not another manager. We distinguish investment mandate from office location and retain a separate internal ledger for entries requiring stronger evidence.

This is a selected research directory, not an exhaustive register or sponsored ranking. Confirm the current vehicle, team and process directly before relying on a fit decision.
Make the next fundraising step specific
Choose a small set of defensible matches, record the open question, and assign the next action. Use our investor-shortlist guide and warm-introduction guide to prepare the conversation. A longer list should make the research better, not turn into an indiscriminate mailing list.
