Germany has several distinct fundraising routes: national and European venture firms, sector specialists, region-linked public investors, corporate venture teams and angel networks. Start with the company’s stage, technical proposition and operating location, then compare investors within that lane.
This guide brings together 50 investor platforms and angel networks, counted once each across our German city research. It explains what makes a route relevant and what still needs a direct fit check. It does not rank firms by returns or suggest that an office address guarantees investment eligibility.
Germany at a glance
A national list is most useful when it exposes differences that a city list cannot. Berlin, Munich, the Rhine-Ruhr region and Frankfurt contain overlapping investors, but a regional financing condition can matter more than the nearest office.
- Earliest company stages: compare the current early-stage propositions of Capnamic, Earlybird, Project A, NAP, xdeck’s venture fund and other relevant firms below.
- Research-led or industrial technology: compare the actual thesis of HTGF, eCAPITAL, MIG Capital, Vsquared, UVC and Munich Venture Partners. Scientific risk, commercialization and sector fit require more than the label “deep tech.”
- Regional company connection: NRW.Venture, Bayern Kapital, BMH and IBB Ventures describe different regional routes. Do not treat them as nationwide substitutes.
- Later-stage growth: Acton explicitly describes Series A and beyond. Other multi-stage platforms need a team-and-vehicle check.
- Angel participation: a network introduces a different decision structure from a fund. Count the network once, not every member or matching event.
Compare German venture firms and angel networks
The table separates provider type, stage and geographic connection. “Confirm” means the current source did not establish a precise entry condition, not that the provider has no strategy. Use the linked profile and official destination to resolve the question.

Check regional eligibility before you build the shortlist
Office, mandate and eligibility are three different facts. A Berlin office shows a local presence. An explicitly European investment strategy shows a broader focus. A program’s company-location condition is a separate requirement that your company must investigate.
- Berlin: IBB Ventures states a Berlin-company focus. Its current site describes pre-seed to Series A and a dedicated deep-tech pre-seed route.
- Bavaria: Bayern Kapital describes financing for innovative Bavarian startups and scale-ups. BayBG also has a Bavarian connection, but covers financing situations beyond venture capital.
- North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW.Venture describes equity co-investment after an initial financing round. TechVision Fonds states a proximity preference centered on Aachen and the Rhineland, with broader German investments for a strong fit.
- Hessen: BMH manages several public and private investment funds. Determine which startup or growth vehicle applies rather than treating the manager’s whole offering as one fund.
Do not relocate, restructure or incur costs based on a directory summary. Ask the responsible team what operating connection and company structure its current vehicle requires.
Investor profiles and official routes
These profiles are organized for research, not ordered as a league table. An available contact or pitch form is a public route, not evidence that the investor is accepting your particular round.

A worked shortlist: a Berlin B2B startup raising pre-seed
Illustrative example, not an investor recommendation. Imagine a Berlin-based enterprise-software team with a working product, a handful of customer conversations and a defined technical milestone for its first round.
How to eliminate weak matches before writing emails
| Route | Initial decision | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Project A | Research the current pre-seed/seed strategy | Does the specific product and evidence match the relevant team? |
| IBB Ventures | Research the Berlin-company route | Which current vehicle and financing conditions fit this company? |
| xdeck Venture Fund | Research the B2B venture route | Is the company seeking investment or only the separate accelerator support? |
| Acton Capital | Hold for a later financing stage | Its published Series A-and-beyond positioning does not match this example’s first round. |
| Bayern Kapital | Do not assume eligibility | The example has not established a Bavarian company connection. |
This leaves a smaller research queue, not a claim that any firm will invest. Review current portfolio conflicts and share sensitive material only through an appropriate, authorized process.

Methodology, research date and deeper city guides
Research checked October 29, 2026 by the Finta Editorial Team with AI-assisted source review. We started from the provider records in the existing German city and regional guides, reconciled aliases, and reviewed official websites and published office, strategy or contact pages. A firm with two offices counts once. Earlybird’s two names were merged; NAP retains Cavalry as an alias; xdeck’s non-investing accelerator is not counted as another investor.
We included venture investors, equity platforms and angel networks with a documented German presence or a stated investment focus relevant to the German ecosystem. Provider type remains explicit. We did not infer check sizes, minimum traction, lead behavior, open allocation or guaranteed eligibility from a past portfolio investment. The list is not exhaustive, sponsored placement or a performance ranking. A current website supports the stated proposition, not a promise that a new check is available today.
