Research venture capital in Finland by matching the next company milestone, technical thesis and published geographic remit. An idea-stage software team, a scientific spinout and a business preparing a larger commercial round need different investor evidence and financing routes.
This guide compares 16 selected Finnish and Finland-relevant investors, including one clearly labeled angel network. It separates first investment from later portfolio support, company equity from fund-manager processes, and a Finnish office from the actual investment mandate. The goal is a short research queue with defensible matches, not a ranking by reputation.
Choose the milestone before the round label
- Define the proof. Is the capital for technical validation, first customers, repeatable sales or scale-up?
- Use the actual investment entry point. An initial pre-seed strategy is not the same as a later follow-on round in the portfolio.
- Record the geographic connection. Separate company location, founder connection, customer market and a manager's office.
- Choose the proper process. Startup funding, angel membership, GP fundraising and ecosystem support are different routes.
Compare 16 Finnish investor routes
Use provider type, stage and geographic connection together. An office address is not a promise of eligibility. Where the current source does not establish a precise entry stage, the table leaves that question open.
Selected investors and clearly labeled angel-network routes relevant to Finland, researched October 29, 2026. Regional mandates do not mean every Finnish company qualifies. On small screens, scroll the table sideways to see every column.

First investment and later portfolio rounds are different signals
Lifeline explicitly describes pre-seed and seed entry even while its portfolio has much later financings. Icebreaker starts at idea-to-seed. NordicNinja publishes a Series A focus, with individual current transactions that can differ. These are useful distinctions, not contradictions to smooth away.
Record the published entry strategy, the particular vehicle and the company proof achieved. Do not use a portfolio company's latest round as the stage for every new applicant. If the current source leaves a stage open, keep the question open until the team clarifies it.
A scientific result needs a commercialization plan
Butterfly focuses on seed-entry deep tech, hardware and hardware-linked software. Voima explicitly includes scientific deep tech and spinouts. Maki describes first-round technical company building. The same lab result can be at a different commercial stage for each investor.
Prepare the demonstrated performance, remaining technical risk, product constraints and first buyer. State what the next financing will validate and what is still a hypothesis. A university connection or prototype is valuable context, but not proof of a repeatable business or a committed financing route.
Differentiate B2B software from an industrial AI use case
Vendep's current focus is AI-native B2B software with an explicit regional connection. OpenOcean emphasizes technical companies across AI-native software, automation and data-intensive systems. Greencode is more specific about applied AI in energy, industry and infrastructure.
A software product for a factory should explain who uses it, how it is deployed, what operating decision changes and how the customer pays. Only then test the relevant sector thesis. An industrial customer does not automatically make the product deep tech, and an AI feature does not establish an AI-native investment case.
Angel networks and investment platforms have different decision makers
FiBAN facilitates startup screening and angel syndication, but the association itself does not invest. Innovestor has a distinct Angel CoFund alongside other venture activities. Tesi separates company investment from fund-manager relationships. These should not be counted as interchangeable sources of a single automatic cheque.
Use the founder route, record the actual investing group or vehicle once known, and keep membership or limited-partner products out of the company pipeline. Ask the provider to confirm current conditions rather than treating a directory as individualized eligibility advice.
Investor profiles and official routes
These profiles are a research aid, not a performance ranking. Read the current strategy and portfolio before sharing a deck. A public contact route does not establish that a firm has available allocation for your round.
Butterfly Ventures
Deep-tech venture firm. Finland and Sweden emphasis; wider Nordic/Baltic activity; Oulu and Helsinki offices. Butterfly's current strategy distinguishes initial seed investment from follow-on capacity. Explain the technical result, customer problem and commercialization milestone. Do not present promotional portfolio revenue timings or historical fund statistics as a forecast for an applicant.

Icebreaker.vc
Early-company venture firm. Explicit Finland, Estonia and Sweden investment remit. The published country scope and earliest-company proposition are useful filters before outreach. Show the founding insight and what has been tested. A portfolio company's Series A/B announcement is not the same as Icebreaker's entry criteria or a guaranteed follow-on commitment.
Icebreaker.vc: official investment information · Apply for Funding
Innovestor
Finnish investment manager. Finnish manager with a Helsinki office. Choose the venture or Angel CoFund route rather than the platform's real-estate, energy-storage or advisory activities. Those products and services solve different jobs. A co-investment relationship still needs its own process and should not be assumed merely because an angel has expressed interest.
Innovestor: official investment information · Contact Us
Inventure
Regional generalist venture firm. Primarily the Nordics and Baltics; Helsinki, Stockholm and London offices. The current regional remit is more specific than a generic European fund label. Explain the Finnish founder or operating connection and the company-building milestone. A varied portfolio does not establish that every stage or sector has available capital for a new applicant.
Inventure: official investment information · Contact
Lifeline Ventures
Early-stage venture firm. Finland-linked company-building ecosystem; confirm the specific company connection. Lifeline states its early-entry approach while its portfolio also contains much later financings. Keep those facts separate. Prepare the founder insight and next technical or customer proof; do not infer a new-company growth strategy from a longstanding portfolio company's later round.
Lifeline Ventures: official investment information
Maki.vc
Early technical-company venture firm. Nordic founders building global companies; Helsinki base. Maki's current first-round proposition requires a concrete technical and commercial case, not a category label alone. Explain why the team understands the problem, what it has built and the next market milestone. Later support and introductions are not entitlements attached to an application.
Maki.vc: official investment information
NordicNinja VC
Northern European technology venture firm. Northern European focus; Helsinki, Stockholm, London and Tokyo presence. Use the published Series A focus as the baseline even though a current news item describes a seed investment. A specific exception is not a new universal rule. Explain readiness for the round and any real international market connection instead of assuming a Japan office creates a distribution agreement.
NordicNinja VC: official investment information
Tesi
Finnish state investment company. Finland company-growth mandate; Helsinki office. Tesi separates company investment from fund-manager fundraising and co-investment activity. A startup should use the company route rather than the GP portal. The presence of a portfolio fund does not mean that fund and Tesi are interchangeable decision makers or committed co-investors in a new round.
Tesi: official investment information
Voima Ventures
Scientific deep-tech venture firm. Explicit Nordic/Baltic remit; Helsinki and Stockholm offices. Voima connects scientific foundations with global company building. Prepare the validated result, remaining development risk and commercialization plan. A research affiliation is not a funding decision, and different development stages should not be flattened into one standard software round.
Voima Ventures: official investment information · Get in touch
Vendep Capital
B2B software venture firm. Nordic/Baltic location or founding-team connection. Vendep's current FAQ makes the regional connection explicit. Pair that with an actual business customer, early product use and a credible go-to-market problem. Do not replace product-market evidence with a short-term growth claim, or treat every software feature as an AI-native business.
Vendep Capital: official investment information · Contact
OpenOcean
European technical-company venture firm. European-founded companies; Helsinki and London offices. The current About page links technical founders with knowledge work and the systems needed to scale it. Prepare the data or technology advantage and the user's adoption case. Founder pitches, investor relations and media enquiries have different contact routes; use the appropriate published process.

Superhero Capital
Software venture firm. Primary focus on Finland and the Baltics; Helsinki and Vilnius offices. Superhero's current page identifies the New Nordics as Finland and the Baltics and distinguishes initial investment from opportunity/feeder vehicles in its disclosure. Count the manager once. Software fit and founder context matter more than treating every fund label as another available cheque.
Superhero Capital: official investment information · Contact us · Additional official strategy or location evidence
Greencode Ventures
Specialist European venture firm. Helsinki headquarters; European investment remit. Greencode's current approach requires a meaningful connection between applied AI and energy, industrial operations or infrastructure resilience. Show the operating outcome and adoption constraint. A general environmental claim or an ordinary dashboard is not enough to establish the technical and commercial fit.

Gorilla Capital
Capital-efficient early-company investor. Published company-location remit includes Finland and several Nordic/Baltic markets and the UK. Gorilla emphasizes customer focus, capital efficiency and learning before scaling. Prepare actual customer evidence and milestone-based financing needs. Its investment philosophy should not be turned into a promised return, exit or guarantee that a company at an arbitrary valuation qualifies.
Gorilla Capital: official investment information · Contact
FiBAN
Nonprofit business-angel network. Finnish angel network; non-Finnish cases require an appropriate connection. FiBAN explicitly states that the association does not invest; its members do. The startup process screens cases for visibility and potential pitching. Count one network route, not its members as committed cheques. Investor membership, a startup application and a syndicate investment are distinct decisions.
FiBAN: official investment information
byFounders
Community-powered technology venture firm. New Nordics founder ecosystem; confirm the company's specific regional connection. The current proposition backs early founders from the New Nordics rather than offering unrestricted global eligibility. Explain the regional founder connection and company insight. Members of the collective, associated operators and portfolio companies are not separate funds or guaranteed introductions.

A worked shortlist for a Finnish industrial-monitoring team
Illustrative research exercise, not an investment recommendation. A Finnish team combines sensors and software to detect failures in factory energy systems. A prototype works in controlled tests and one customer is preparing a pilot. The next round would validate reliability, integration cost and willingness to pay.
Different research routes for the same fictional company
| Route | Why research it | Proof to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Butterfly or Voima | Technical and hardware commercialization | Demonstrated result, remaining risk and pilot milestone. |
| Greencode | Applied AI in energy or industrial operations | Real operating mechanism and measurable customer outcome. |
| Vendep | Test whether there is a credible B2B software business | Separate software value and recurring use from installation hardware. |
| Gorilla | Capital-efficient customer validation | What can be learned before scaling the organization. |
| NordicNinja | Check readiness before assuming a Series A fit | A controlled prototype alone is not a commercial scale-up case. |
Keep supported matches and open questions separate. No named provider has evaluated this fictional team.

Methodology, research date and local guides
Research checked October 29, 2026 by the Finta Editorial Team with AI-assisted source review. We reconciled provider names from our existing city research and reviewed current official strategy, portfolio, location or founder-contact pages. Firms with multiple offices count once; angel networks count as networks, not one committed pooled fund. We distinguish local presence from investment mandate and company eligibility. We do not infer check sizes, investor returns, lead behavior or open allocation from a portfolio logo.
Discovery reused the established Helsinki research and added current official manager, strategy, contact and angel-process sources. The national comparison adds hardware/software commercialization distinctions, regional mandate checks and an original worked shortlist. Firms with several offices count once, and FiBAN is counted as one network route rather than as a pooled fund or its members as committed investors.
We omit unsupported check sizes, promotional performance forecasts and current-allocation claims. A readable source is not proof that a company qualifies. Confirm the current vehicle, process and conditions with the responsible team.
Informational purposes only. Finta is not a law firm or accounting firm. This is general fundraising information, not personalized financial, legal or tax advice. Discuss financing instruments, company structures, co-investment conditions and tax consequences with your attorney or accountant.
This is a selected research directory, not an exhaustive register or sponsored ranking. Confirm the current vehicle, team and process directly before relying on a fit decision.
Make the next fundraising step specific
Choose a small set of defensible matches, record the open question, and assign the next action. Use our investor-shortlist guide and warm-introduction guide to prepare the conversation. A longer list should make the research better, not turn into an indiscriminate mailing list.
