Workflow

Confirm the metric's denominator, event definitions, timezone and source freshness before diagnosing a change. Compare consistent periods and examine cohort composition, missing data, instrumentation changes and exceptional events. Reconcile calculations with source rows and test alternative explanations. Separate observed association from causal evidence and identify the next discriminating check. Do not invent experiment results, attribute a change to a release without evidence or change tracking and production settings automatically.
